THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The language teaching has evolved alongside linguistics that developed in the West. Therefore, to understand the different methodologies, it is imperative contextualize the corresponding linguistic paradigm (Alcaraz Varo 1990) in which they arose. Hence, then expose a brief history of linguistics in the Western world.


INTRODUCTION
Learning English as a foreign language has therefore training purposes and personal growth, as well as instrumental order purposes for academic, labor and other world own youth. Learning a foreign language is a gradual building process that involves exposure, repetition, repetition or expansion and enrichment of oral and written language experiences in the foreign language. It also involves strengthening the skills of students to predict, identify, relate, synthesize and infer information.
  OBJECTIVES
ü  Being able to learn the English language through practice and develop the four basic skills: aural - oral - read - write, and any inherent skill learning process.    

ü  Develop logical thinking through different cognitive strategies: deriving hypotheses make, make inferences, making conclusions, and quote, describe, summarize, compare, relate, analyze, define, and find solutions.

ü   Express the mselves freely and creatively, to be able to contribute to the learning experience to give meaningful input, justifying and interacting productively.

ü  Develop different reading comprehension strategies: exploration, obtaining specific information, inferring the meaning of new words and expressions from the context, creating summaries, find the main idea of the reading.

ü  Develop listening strategies in different situations.


ü  Use written language effectively in a variety of contexts (letters, notes, descriptions, narratives, dialogues) and to a variety of public, taking into account the recipient and purpose.
